Marathon birthday year for Tracie

photo 1With her 50th birthday fast approaching Tracie Kett, director of Gillingham Glass Company Ltd has decided that a tough challenge is the best way to mark her milestone year.

On 13th April she will be tackling the 2014 London Marathon.

Although generally fit she only began running in April 2012, and admits that the marathon training has been tough with all the rain earlier in the year.
“I’ve got friends coming to watch and I’m sure it will be very emotional”, admits Tracie, who has been swimming, circuit training and cycling as well as running as part of her training.
“I want to do this to prove to myself that I can run a marathon at 50, but I’m also raising money for the Get Kids Going Charity”, said Tracie.

Get Kids Going! helps disabled young athletes and provide manual wheelchairs for children to use every day at home, at school, and to enable them to play with their friends.

The charity has supported include Kelly Gallagher and Charlotte Evans who won gold for Team BG in the visually impaired skiing at Sochi.

Including donations from Gillingham Glass customers, Tracie has already raised over £1200 but is hoping for a minimum of £2,000. Donations can be made at
